About

Hi, I’m DeeDee. When I moved to San Francisco after high school, over twenty years ago for college, I had no idea I was planting my roots here. But I fell madly in love… with this city and the Bay Area, and never left.

Twenty years in a city like SF feels like an accomplishment. This city can be very challenging… from battling the high cost of living, and budgeting parking tickets into your monthly expenses, to raising kids and dealing with the school system and foggy, oftentimes random weather and microclimates every single day. All this while building a business, life can get overwhelming at times. But life in this city is a gift that I am grateful for every single day.

I will use this space to show my gratitude and share my love for food and wellness, my home and family, and my amazing community, along with the bounty and beauty of the Bay Area. I will share recipes, art and DIY projects.

As a graphic designer who specializes in branding and marketing for restaurants and food and wellness brands, I spend my workday creating and strategizing ideas for my clients, which I really love. Because I am a multi-passionate kind of gal, I am always cooking up new, creative ideas even when I’m not “working”. I just can’t seem to turn it off. Whether I am developing a new recipe with my girls, trying to grow things on my tiny back porch, pickling something I found at the farmers market, painting or building something to improve my living space, or just wandering around this beautiful city taking pictures, I get great satisfaction out of turning an idea into a tangible or edible piece of art, a gift, or something functional.

After running my Graphic Design Business, ARTdeezine, for over 10 years I decided to embark on a new challenge and founded, HUNT & GATHER. HUNT & GATHER is a Creative Community Space for Seasonal Workshops, Pop-ups, and Art Shows located in the Inner Sunset here in San Francisco. H&G is a dream come true. Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamt of creating a gathering space for creative types, like myself, to collaborate, inspire, and socialize. H&G gives me an outlet for all my creative ideas. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to build community and possibly inspire other artists and makers to create and in turn, inspire others… a ripple effect.

“Sonoma Sky” is a combination of my two little girls’ names: Sonoma Rose and Lyla Sky, who I am dedicating this blog to because they inspire me and spark my creativity every single day.

~Cheers to a happy, abundant life in the Bay Area!
